"No better, no worse"

"No Better, No Worse"
While Jae and I were with the Grandmothers Council, I heard Grandmother Rita Blumenstein say, about dealing with people they are "no better and no worse". I was inspired by this. I have been doing this practice for three weeks now and it has had a profound impact in a few ways. I am clearer about where I still hold prejudices, clearer about when I'm judging myself or others and recognizing that we are ALL on our own journey and each is perfect. That's why you haven't heard from me either. The practice has gotten deeper as I've done it. I owe it to Grandmother Rita and I am so grateful that my Jae and I have been fortunate enough to serve these outstanding women. We did a 'no comparisons' practice a couple months ago. This takes it to a whole new level. Are you up for it?

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Every time you encounter a person mentally say "no better, no worse". When you are riding on the train, looking at a magazine or tv ad and you see someone, mentally say "no better, no worse", when you see a house that is bigger or smaller than yours, mentally say "no better, no worse". When you have a conversation with someone you see as more powerful than you, ie. teacher, boss, mentally say "no better, no worse". Every opportunity you have to do this, give it a try. Talk about leveling the playing field. :)
