Takin a Break

Takin' a Break
It's Advent, its December, the last month of a big change year. It's time for a break. For me, I am being called to devote all of my time and attention for the month to the One Life, to my God. Yeah, you'll still see me out and about but my focus is internal right now, many changes in my life and in my relationship with God and I am filled with gratitude to take this time for reflection, study, prayer and of course meditation. Time with God. AMEN!

So unless God sends some message that I absolutely must send out in December the only Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice for the month is to turn within. Slow down. Listen to God.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Retreat, reflect, go within. Know God, Know Love. That's it. :)

The Gift of Family

The Gift
Well it's that time of year again. Family time! Many of us go into a myriad of mood swings during the holiday season. Some dread the holy-days and some love them. How about we try a new method this year? family old time

I love my family so much because through the years I have realized what an amazing gift each one of them has been. We get together so infrequently now with our busy schedules that I miss them. Was this always the case? No, because they drove me crazy too. And sometimes when we're all together it's pretty loud. But I love it all. I got to this point by beginning to recognize what a gift each person is in my life. My mom, my big sis, my bro's, my nieces, my great niece and nephews, even my dad who showed up late and is no longer with us. It's easy to see the gift of my daughters of course! We don't know how much time we have with these gifts called family. So how about this holiday we start to re-cog-nize how they've been a gift and show it! Yeah, I know, it's not always easy when those buttons get pushed but how about we disengage the button for the next six weeks and just let the unconditional love button flow?

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Love unconditionally and give thanks for each family member, whether they are here or passed on. TRULY be in appreciation of the gift that their presence has been in your life. You might just be in the holiday's with a new cheer this year. I know I will!

Unconditional Love?

Unconditional Love
I'm a few days behind because I needed extra days to practice not complaining. It was tougher than I thought and I am still at it. :)

So, how often do you love unconditionally. Maybe we only give love when we expect a return. You know how we always talk about parents love kids unconditionally but do we? Really? Many times we withhold love when they are not doing what we think they should. Or even a best friend, how many times do we withhold love because they did something we don't agree with? Or a partner? We KNOW we withhold love from them when they don't "act right". And especially Ourselves. How often are we chastising ourselves and withholding love from ourselves for some past mistake? I know I've done it all. Let's see how unconditional we can get with our love this week. Starting with ourselves and let that circle ripple out.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Love unconditionally. Yes, that means that whatever you or anyone else is doing, you love them anyway. Let's see how it goes. I'm definitely up for some unconditional love all over the place. (Oh yeah, forgiveness may sneak into this one.)

A Challenge-No complaining

No Complaining Challenge
Well, here it is. Edwene Gaines was in town a week or so ago and she talks about committing to be complaint free for 21 days. That may seem like a lot but I've tried it for many more than 21 days and it is exhilarating! Really. So this week, how about from today til next Wednesday we each challenge ourselves not to complain about ANYTHING.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
For 7 days be complaint free! Anytime you catch yourself moving into a complaint, stop, forgive yourself and let that complaint go, without voicing it. I'd LOVE to hear how this one goes. I find I get highly tuned to the complaints in my head and the ones others are speaking too. In each instance say a blessing. Whatever your personal method of blessing is! Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Love with Reckless Abandon

Love with Reckless Abandon
How often do you Love with Reckless Abandon? What is occurring to heart beachme is that there are people in my life who I love with my whole heart but did I tell them that yesterday? Nope. I also have a rock solid belief in Today as the only day of existence. Now, what does it cost us to express love with reckless abandon? Nothing. And how often do we just give it away freely? What are we really afraid of? That too much love will be put out in the world? "Oh, what if they don't love me back, what if they think I'm weird, what if, what if, what if..." Well, what if you never see that person again in this world? What if the last time you spoke to them you wanted to say I LOVE YOU LIKE CRAZY, but didn't. Think about it. We are given this day. Our life is string of Todays. How are we going to love today? Jesus had ONE commandment-"These things I command you, that ye love one another." John 15:17. Love one another. It's really why we're here. Yeah, I know I thought it was for that great new car too. :)

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
LOVE WITH RECKLESS ABANDON! Contemplate what that means to you and have at it! Tell everybody everyday! There is nothing to lose and so much to gain by spreading love.

Outrageous

Outrageous Love
me professional
This month our topic at Power of Oneness is "Loving Outrageously". It got me to thinking. How do I love myself outrageously? And do I love myself outrageously? We know we can only give away what we have, so if we are going to love others outrageously maybe we need to love ourselves outrageously first. :)

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
This week lets just contemplate these questions:
Do I love myself outrageously?
How do I love myself outrageously even more?
Yes, indulge yourself. I think I'll start with an extra sauna and whirlpool time. :)

Peace and love,

Forgiven

I AM Forgiven
me professional
I realized that I was having trouble spreading love. Yes, even a tree hugging, peacemaker has trouble seeing love all the time. :) What I realized was that I could not spread it out in the world as easy because I was holding myself hostage for past actions. I woulda never guessed it but there it was right in my face. So I began to forgive myself. Not always easy when we are stuck in the past in our mind. I wrote a letter to someone I had harmed apologizing for my actions and I consciously forgave myself. As humans we do the best we can with what we know at the time. And as the saying goes, "When you know better you do better." So lets do better now. God has already forgiven us because God is Love. Let's let ourselves off the hook.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Bring to mind that one thing that has been with you for a while and you know what it is cuz you keep thinking that you need to apologize. It's nagging and it won't go away. Write a letter of apology for whatever it is you think was your part. No blame just clarity. Whether you send the letter or not, feel the freedom of letting go of holding yourself hostage for something you did in a past that doesn't even exist anymore. Forgive yourself. And say it. I AM Forgiven. Because we already are. God is love and forgiveness is done. And so it is. Amen.

Spread Love!

Spread Love
me professional
Last weeks focus on letting go of the Judge created a lot of prayers for myself and others. :) Happy to have been in that practice. This week our practice is to spread love. What the world's need now is love right? So lets get to sending it out!

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Take 5 minutes, either all at once or five individual minutes throughout the day and spread love. First, stop and breath into your heart and bring into your mind a feeling of love and then visualize it shooting out from you in every direction. Try it when you feel anxious or uptight, what a mood lifter! Send it to someone you judged last week or to a place, even a situation. Just send it out. What we give we receive. Happy loving peeps.

The Judge-September 13

The Judge
me professionalWell, I'm not sure about you but sometimes I judge people, including myself. It's like a random thought that just sweeps through my mind and I catch it. Most of the time. :)

Judging others or self puts us right into our negative mind. That is not a fun place or a constructive place at all! We get to be glorious co-creators of our lives. Let's create more love, more support of self and others, more joy, more happiness, more gratitude. Let the Judge sit this week out.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
First let's get conscious (aware) when we are being The Judge. Then any time The Judge shows up just show it to the door and speak a word of blessing for the person, people, past events, places or our precious selves. It can be as simple as, " I bless you and send you love." Simple right? And so it is.

Peace and love,

A Minute of Gratitude-Sept 6th

A Minute of Gratitude
me professionalGratitude is that practice we always hear has magical powers. It does too! And I love what Dr. Beckwith says, "The enlightened give thanks for what most people take for granted."

Although I am still working on the letting go (it's why its called practice people) :), I know how easy it is to get stuck in 'if only' mode. So this week, lets just take a minute, or five or ten, and speak out what we are grateful for. If you've ever lived in a tent for a few weeks the toilet becomes a real source of gratitude when you get home. How bout being grateful for that? Or there's lots of other stuff, like health, family, friends, a good book, the sun, the Gong, teaching the Power of Your Word with Rev. Celeste.....oh the list is LONG.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Set a timer in your cell to go off at a random, but convenient time. Stop and speak out gratitude for one minute. Or set multiple timers. Or before you get out of the bed or before bed. Whenever you like. I find that having a practice throughout the day moves my relationship with Spirit out of the periphery and into all my activities. And I am GRATEFUL for that!

Let go already! August 30th

Let Go Already!!
me professionalSo good to be home! My time at Omega and the message from Mark Anthony's talk yesterday have all collided for this weeks practice. LET GO ALREADY!!

I have a couple things in my life right now that I am letting go of to live to my fullest. I think that we all have that one thing that's keeping us from being our True selves. Whats yours? Is it sugar (mine), resentment, coffee, staying up late? Whatever it is when we let it go we can begin to see a real shift in who we are. It ain't doin' us no good anyway. :) When we let go we can, like Mark Anthony said, "Be about what you came here to do!" Thanks for that great talk Rev.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
LET GO! Even for just one week, lets let go. Try it. The thing (and only you know what that thing is) that's holding you back, let it go. Consciously and with persistence. When it comes up this week, just say, "I let go and all myself to be about what I came here to do!"

Peace and love,
Har Kirat~Gina, RScP

August 9th-The Source

The Source
me professionalI've missed you all! I've been at back to back conferences, passed my oral panels and now I'm at Omega teaching. My life is filled with gratitude and I know it is because of my deep relationship with Source. So I'm wondering, what's your life and relationship to Source like?

In my panels one of the questions was about this very special relationship. And honestly I get to meet with Spirit/God/Creator/Goddess every morning for my extensive practice but its all the in between times that I cherish. And of course I love the arguments! Cuz making up with Source is GOOD! Well, actually it just means me letting go and something really good always happens after that. :)

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Contemplate your relationship with Source, whatever you choose to call it-God/Goddess/Universe/Mother/Father/Higher Power-whatever it is. Spend time this week looking at this relationship.Maybe it needs more tending or maybe you're right on track. How in love are you with the Source and how are you feeling that love? Either way It is there for you always.

Peace and love,

Comparisons

Comparisons
me professional
Throughout the day it occurs to me that I may have something less than or more than others. Don't we all compare what we have to others? Which is really quite pointless I think because, as the old saying goes, you can't compare oranges to apples. Each of us is different, we are each on our own personal journey. Our relationship with Spirit is the just the same. No need to compare where we are on our journey with that of others. We are EXACTLY where we need to be right now today for our own personal journey.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
STOP Comparing!!! Every time that little thought or the "shoulda, coulda woulda sisters" stop by for a visit in our mind lets take conscious action to switch to the knowing that all is in perfect Divine Harmony. Our path is our perfect path, happening at exactly the pace we need for perfect growth. And thank you God for that one!

Trust?

Most of us spend our days, in our own head's trying to figure out everything in our lives, do I go here? Do this? If I move this over here then that will happen. If this goes right then the outcome will be....on and on an on. I know personally. So what if we could stop all that chatter and internal questioning and just trust that we are on purpose?

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Lets give it a try. For one week, every time the busy mind starts to calculate and figure out everylittlething, lets stop, breathe and say, "I trust that all is well and working perfectly. I will allow Spirit-Higher Power-Creator-God-Infinite Love-Universe-Goddess (you choose the word that works for you) within me to handle this one." Sometimes I have to say it more than once and sometimes all day long. :) But by the end of the day I sure am calmer.

My brother's keeper?

What would the world be like if we treated every person we encountered as our family member? I mean the ones we really like. :)

I have a deep belief that we are all ONE GLOBAL FAMILY! And I see this so clearly in spiritual community but how do we treat the grocery clerk?

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
This week our practice is to see everyone as a person you love. No you don't have to kiss them or hug them, unless you really want to, but how about treating each person as the brother or sister that you really love. Hope to see you about family!

Bless the Water and Love Yourself!!!

Bless the Waters and Love Yourself!
me professional
Time flies. Its been a month and school is almost done for the summer!

So when Jae and I were serving the International Council of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers in December, Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim said to bless the water every time we encounter it. So in light of our world affairs, the practice this week is to bless the water.

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice
Every-time you encounter water-drinking it, showering, bathing, flushing :), swimming, looking at the lake-say a little prayer of healing and love for it. We literally cannot live without it. It is us and we are it. So bless it every time you remember. Cuz when you think about it we are 70% water so you're actually blessing yourself too.

Who are you? Week 6-Contemplation

Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice

What a week of conscious breathing! It's great to remember to remember. It is so awesome that a huge group is doing this and thanks for the awesome feedback! I created a facebook so we can share about how the practice is going, share and encourage others! And a blogspot too! I know you know someone who may benefit from a 'lil spiritual practice so forward this on if you like. Oh, and I'm working on a new look for this so it will be the same simple practice with a new face next week.

Simple Practice
Contemplation-thoughtful observation or study. Contemplation is a great way to get new insights into your perfection. Pick a word, phrase, scripture, quote, whatever you like and let it roll around in your mind for a week. How about this one-WHO AM I? Deep, huh? Happy contemplating!

This week we are BREATHING!!

Of course we are breathing. But we're getting conscious about it. Check out this weeks Simple Everyday Spiritual Practice and let me know what you think. How was it? Did it calm you? Center you? Frustrate you? :) It's all good here.

Well for me, I actually practiced One Minute Breath yesterday for almost five minutes! One Minute Breath is where you inhale 20seconds, hold 20 seconds and exhale 20 seconds. Took me almost a year to build that up!
Whoo Hooooooooooooooooo (20 seconds on the hoooooooooo). :)
Peace and love,

Week of 3/19 Reporting for Duty!

Everyday Spiritual Practice
Once a week I will be sending out a simple spiritual practice to incorporate into our days. I know that it can seem challenging to fit practice into our everyday lives so here's a simple way to begin building a life filled with spiritual awareness!
Simple Practice
When you wake up say, "Good morning Spirit, I'm reporting for duty!" If you remember throughout the day or in any times of tension you can say it again, "I'm reporting for duty God!" When I first heard this quote it tickled me so much I had to pass it along. So here I am "reporting for duty". :)
Peace and love,
Harkirat~Gina

Practice makes Perfect.
"Perfection is a state of being where there's constant growth and development on the spiritual plane and where you're moving towards greater and greater realization of universality."
-Dr. Guruchander Singh Khalsa, D.C.

Week of 3/28 Just 3 minutes

Everyday Spiritual Practice

Wow, its almost April. I'm wondering how conscious have I been in these first three months of the new year.

Simple Practice
Set three timers in your cell phone/pda for random times throughout the day. Make sure they are at reasonable times, ie-not during usually scheduled meetings. When each timer goes off, stop whatever you're doing for one minute, breath deeply and and BE conscious, practice the Presence. What a way to slow down time with a simple 3 minute a day investment. :)

Peace and love,
Harkirat~Gina

is the development of spiritual consciousness.
-Joel Goldsmith

"Consciousness is being aware that you are Aware."
-Michael Bernard Beckwith

Week of 4/5 Sing Your Truth!

Everyday Spiritual Practice

I hope those three minutes expanded time for you last week! This weeks practice is a direct result of the awesome Sacred Sound class tonight.

Simple Practice
Pick your favorite song and every time you hear it sing it as an affirmation of the Truth. And not just any song, the song that you sing with your whole heart when you're in the car by yourself. Sing it and vibrate the essence of your being. All is well!

Peace and love,
Harkirat~Gina

"We live in a sea of energy, energy vibrates."
-Yogi Bhajan

"You are vibrational beings..."
-Abraham through Ester Hicks

Use the sacred sound of your voice to vibrate your world with the Truth!

Week of 4/12/10 Take Time

Everyday Spiritual Practice

I am just returning from 5 glorious days in La Quinta, California, right near Palm Springs. Before I left I came across this:

"Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." Mark 6:31

We were visiting friends and not alone but I did take some time by myself to rest a while. Even if it was only for a few minutes a day. We may not be able to physically vacation every day but we can take time away.

Simple Practice
Take the three minutes we did a few weeks ago and put them together. Close your eyes and see your favorite space. Picture it fully and completely, smell the smells, hear the sounds, feel how you feel there and for three minutes breath into this glorious place of rest that lives within us all the time. And if you're feeling expansive make it five minutes.....so nice to get a little space in the day.

Peace and love,
Harkirat~Gina

"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive."
-Howard Thurman

Let's start by creating our own space to feel what we love
and then watch ourselves come alive!

Simple Everday Spiritual Practice

Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. In my classes we always start with this and it is so amazing that we forget that Infinite intelligence is breathing us! At least I know I forget. Our emotions are intimately connected to our breath. Our breath, the Life Force can calm us, excite us or indicate our current state. Check it out randomly throughout the day. Change your breathing and change your mood.

Simple Practice
BREATHE! Seriously. Whenever you think about it (at your desk, in the car, before you eat, when you wake up) take a big deep breath....and then do it again....and again. You can even hold it in a few seconds, release, hold it out a few seconds and inhale and continue. Its pure magic. That good kinda natural easy magic that is happening right now...while you're reading this and not thinking about breathing. :)

Peace and love,
Harkirat~Gina
